FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

General MilSim Questions

What is a Milsim event? A Milsim (Military Simulation) event is a large-scale airsoft experience designed to be more immersive and organized than a typical weekend skirmish. These events usually run over multiple days, involve a large number of players, and may include vehicles and structured objectives. MilSim events feature formal command and control elements, coordinated team play, and evolving scenarios. For many players, MilSim represents one of the highest-level and most rewarding airsoft experiences available.

What should first-time players expect at this event? Our event is designed to be highly accessible, regardless of your experience level. We provide a structured environment and handle all major command and control elements, so you can focus on enjoying the game. Last Stand is unique in that we emphasize what makes large events fun: epic battles, clear objectives, and smooth gameplay. Whether you’re attending solo, with friends, or as part of a squad, we ensure everyone is properly assigned to a team and integrated into a functional unit. You can play the event your way—take on objectives, fight on the front lines, take dedicated rest breaks, or enjoy more comfortable accommodations if you choose. If your goal is simply to jump in and play, you absolutely can. We recommend reviewing footage from previous events and reading the event rulebook for a more detailed look at gameplay, rules, and what to expect.

What equipment do I need? Milsim events run for extended periods, which means you may need to carry sustainment gear onto the field along with your airsoft equipment. Sustainment gear includes items such as water, food, and a radio—anything that helps you stay effective and comfortable during gameplay and rest periods. For our event, in addition to your airsoft gun(s) and protective gear, the following items are mandatory for safety and gameplay: - Government-issued ID and Service Card - Eye protection rated ANSI Z87.1+ or equivalent - Kill/Dead rag - Barrel sock or barrel cover - Radio (minimum FRS / family walkie-talkie style) - Flashlight Beyond the mandatory items, we strongly recommend bringing appropriate food and water for the duration of the event. Last Stand is designed to be very accessible, especially for first-time MilSim players. If you’d like more detailed guidance on what to bring, please refer to our sample packing list in the rulebook (Appendix B).

Ticket Questions

Why is there a difference in ticket pricing? Large-scale events require significant planning and resources. To help manage this, we offer multiple ticket tiers. Early pricing is designed for returning players or those who know they will be attending, allowing them to secure a spot at a lower cost while helping us estimate attendance and plan resources accordingly. Standard pricing provides more flexibility for general attendees and helps us balance teams closer to the event. Last-minute tickets are priced higher to account for the additional logistical challenges and resources required when adjustments must be made late in the planning process.

What does my ticket include? All tickets include free camping on site, available on a first-come, first-served basis. The resort features a large, designated camping area with clearly marked spots. Camping does not require pre-booking. Portable toilet (no showers) and access to running water will be provided. The camping area is otherwise self-serve, so we strongly recommend bringing your own food, water, and camping equipment.

How does the camping work? Camp spots are included with your game ticket and are available on a first-come, first-served basis. While the spots are numbered, there is no reservation system. The campgrounds are self-serve, so you will need to bring your own facilities for cooking and showering. Portable washrooms and garbage cans will be provided. Check-in for the campgrounds begins on Thursday, May 14 at 3:00 PM, and check-out is on Monday, May 18 at 3:00 PM.

Accommodations Questions

Can I purchase hotel rooms instead of camping? Yes. Hotel accommodations are available either on site at Spruce Hill Resort or at the nearby 108 Golf Resort, which is approximately a 5-minute drive away. Hotel rooms are a separate purchase and are typically released between January and March, depending on availability provided by the resort.

What if hotel rooms are sold out? Hotel rooms tend to sell out quickly. If all rooms are booked, unfortunately no additional rooms will be available. However, you may contact us to be placed on a waitlist in case of cancellations or additional availability. Please note that we book the entire resort for the event. We strongly advise not booking through third-party sites such as Expedia or Hotels.com, as those reservations may be canceled.

Can I check into my room early? Yes, as long as there are no existing bookings that overlap with your intended arrival or departure dates. We reserve all rooms only for the official event dates. We understand that some players may wish to arrive earlier or stay later. If there are no conflicting reservations, you may extend your stay. To do so, please contact the resort you are staying at (108 Golf Resort or Spruce Hill Resort) directly after completing your initial booking to confirm availability. Any additional nights can be paid for at the front desk upon arrival.

Are the Spruce Hill Resort amenities available? The spa, gym, and pool facilities at Spruce Hill Resort will not be available for use during the event.

Gameplay Questions

The event last 3-days, do I have to play the whole time? No, you are not required to remain on the field for the entire duration of the event. While the event runs over three days, participation is flexible. If you need to take a break, simply inform your squad leader or team commander when you step off the field and notify them again when you return. Gameplay will continue outside of the scheduled rest periods. That said, the more you contribute to your team’s efforts, the better your chances of completing objectives and achieving victory.

If the event gets cancelled will I get a refund? Yes. If the event is cancelled due to circumstances beyond our control, refunds will be issued to all registered players.

Gear Questions

Smoke grenades, can I use them? Yes, commercially produced smoke grenades (no custom-made grenades) are permitted at our event, provided there are no fire risk restrictions. Popular brands previously used include Enola Gaye and Taginn smoke grenades. Usage is allowed as long as weather conditions are safe and there are no active government fire bans. The admin team may also assess the fire risk and determine if smoke grenades can be used safely. In cases of elevated fire risk, usage may be limited, and if the risk is deemed high, smoke grenades will be prohibited for the safety of all participants and the field.

Can I wear a gas mask or custom face protection? Eye protection is mandatory, while full face protection is optional but strongly recommended. We understand that some players may wish to wear gas masks or other custom face/eye gear for cosmetic purposes. These items are permitted only if the lenses are officially tested to a ballistic rating of Z87.1+ or equivalent. You must provide documentation showing that your lenses meet this rating, and the rest of the eyepro must meet the “full seal” standard. For more information, please refer to our rulebook section on eye protection.
